Commemorative plaques in glass, wood and acrylic on a wooden desk

Recognition and tributes

Commemorative Plaques with Your Logo

Made-to-measure commemorative plaques in acrylic, glass, wood with a metal plate, aluminium, brass or slate, engraved with your logo and each person's text. For anniversaries, retirements, openings and awards, with a quote and mock-up within 24 working hours.

A different text on each plaque

Laser engraving works one unit at a time, so each plaque carries its own name, job title and date. You check every text in the mock-up before anything goes into production.

A material chosen for how it ages

Glass and anodised aluminium look the same years on. Acrylic is light and affordable, but it can yellow in direct sunlight.

For the wall or the desk

Wall plaques are mounted on steel standoffs that give them depth. Desk plaques come with a stand or a felt base.

When a plaque is the right choice

The most common reasons are company anniversaries, retirements, the opening of a new office or plant, and awards at a convention. They are also a way of thanking suppliers, distributors or sponsors for their work.

Unlike most other promotional items, a plaque is hung on a wall or left on a desk and is still there years later. At an event it is the piece handed over on stage, and for someone with many years at the company it is usually paired with a gift they can enjoy at home.

Materials and engraving techniques

Each material ages differently. Optical or toughened glass of 10-15 mm does not yellow; acrylic of 5-10 mm is light and affordable, but it can yellow in direct sunlight; wood with an aluminium or brass plate gives a classic office feel, and anodised aluminium looks the same years on.

Laser engraving works on almost every material and allows a different text on each plaque. On brass or wall-mounted steel we can also use photo-etching, a deeper recess that can be filled with colour. For your logo, vector files are best (SVG, AI or PDF): the laser follows lines, and very fine strokes tend to close up.

How to choose a commemorative plaque

Where it will be displayed
For a wall, go for brass, steel or aluminium with standoffs; for a desk, acrylic, glass or wood with a stand. If it will get direct sunlight, avoid acrylic.
The reason for the tribute
For long-service anniversaries and retirements, bevelled glass is a good fit; for internal awards with lots of plaques, acrylic; for the opening of an office, brass or wall-mounted steel.
The marking technique
Laser engraving for almost everything, internal engraving or sandblasting on glass, photo-etching with colour fill on metal, and full-colour UV printing on acrylic.
Short, clear text
The occasion, full name, date and a one- or two-line dedication. The shorter the text, the more legible and elegant the plaque looks.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about commemorative plaques

If yours is not here, write to us. People answer, not an automatic form.

Which material is best for a commemorative plaque?

For a plaque that will be on show for years, glass and anodised aluminium age best. Acrylic is light and more affordable, but it can yellow in direct sunlight; wood with a metal plate gives a classic office look.

What text goes on a retirement or anniversary plaque?

The usual choice is the occasion, the full name, the date and a short dedication of one or two lines. The shorter the text, the more legible the plaque.

Can each plaque carry a different name?

Yes. The laser engraves one unit at a time, so each plaque can carry its own name, job title and date. You send us the list and check every text in the mock-up before production.

What is the difference between laser engraving and photo-etching?

Laser engraving marks the surface following the lines of the design and works on almost every material. Photo-etching is a chemical process on metal that creates a deeper recess, which can be filled with colour; it is the typical finish on brass or steel wall plaques.

How do you hang a commemorative plaque on a wall?

Wall plaques are mounted on steel standoffs, which hold them a few millimetres off the wall and give them depth. Desk plaques come with a stand or a felt base; tell us where it will go when you request a quote.

How far ahead should I order a plaque for an opening?

The lead time depends on the material, the engraving technique and the quantity, and we give it to you with the quote. Production starts once you approve the mock-up, so if the date of the event is fixed, tell us when you request a quote.
